smart polymers for corrosion protection of metals

Electrochemically active organic compounds or polymers can react with metal surfaces, enabling those surfaces to form protective oxides.  Coatings that comprise electroactive polymers, or some analogous compounds, can cause corrosion-prone metals behave more “nobly.”
