about the company

Polymer Alloys was established as a limited liability company in New York state in 1998 for the purposes of discovery, development, patenting, licensing, and sale of environmentally preferred technologies for the protection of metals from corrosion.

Our approach to corrosion protection is centered on the chemistry of metal passivation, the phenomenon in which particular metals, when placed in oxidizing conditions, spontaneously form a metal-oxide skin that slows the rate of oxidation and protects the substrate.  Stainless steels are “stainless” and aluminum alloys “rust-free” because of their oxide surfaces.

The  Polymer Alloys technologies concern particularly the use of polyphenylene ether resins to protect metals of construction, transportation, and electronics.  The advantages of organic polymers are their low toxicity, their effectiveness as very thin and light coating, and their compatibility with other coatings and metal finishing practices.
